Firefighters rescue SPM candidate, civilians from flooded road

KANOWIT: An SPM candidate and two civilians were rescued after being stranded on a flooded road near Rumah Joseph, Rantau Kemiding today (Jan 15).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the 200-metre stretch of road was submerged under 2.5 feet high of water, preventing them from continuing their journey.

The students’ parents alerted Bomba at 6.40 am for immediate assistance to transport their daughter from their home to SMK Kanowit.

Following the call, firefighters from Kanowit station were promptly dispatched to the scene, about 5km away.

Upon arrival, they rescued the student and two civilians, who were also heading to work in Kanowit town.

The team later transported the student to her school and the civilians to their respective workplaces safely.

The rescue operation ended at 7.13 am.

The submerged 200-metre stretch of road prevents a SPM candidate and two civilians from continuing their journey.
