MIRI: The Merbau Estate Basketball Court has undergone upgrades under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation of RM150,000.

Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Deputy Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew said the project included raising the court’s floor by four inches, repainting the surface, installing two new basketball frames, and adding six lighting units to enhance visibility during evening games.

The Piasau assemblyman, accompanied by his team, council engineers, and members of the Team Merbau Basketball Club, conducted a final inspection of the upgraded court on Friday.

“This collaborative effort has resulted in a unique and outstanding design for the court. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Club members, council engineers, and contractors for their dedication to this project,” he said in a Facebook post.

He added that the upgraded facility aims to foster a stronger and more vibrant community, benefiting residents of the constituency.
