DARO: The newly opened Muara Lassa Bridge has quickly become a magnet for locals, eager to capture the excitement of its debut day.

As the Sarawak Tribune crossed the bridge on the way back to Sibu, families were spotted pulling over, turning the roadside into an impromptu photo spot.

Laughter filled the air as they snapped pictures, creating lasting memories of this historic occasion.

Youthful energy was also on full display as groups of friends convoyed on motorcycles, pausing not only to marvel at the bridge but also to soak in the breathtaking sunset painting the horizon.

The Batang Lassa Bridge, costing nearly RM600 million, is now open to the public after 10 years of anticipation.

The soft launch of the bridge today (Jan 9) was officiated by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, who represented the Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Sarawak’s second-longest bridge after the Batang Lupar Bridge, its construction was completed in 48 months.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the grand launch of the bridge, scheduled for Feb 22.
