SARATOK: Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri has called on the youth to strengthen their character in facing the various challenges of the future.
According to him, the impact of external challenges is increasingly felt today and is expected to become more intense in the future.
“For those who are fragile, they fall at a young age, unable to control themselves.
“Therefore, seek and nurture strong character so that we can become individuals with integrity, dedication and the ability to face global challenges.
“This can be done through programmes like the one we are organising today. Congratulations to the Gerak Seni Silat ABJAD (Asli) Jabat Kilat Sarawak organisation.”
Mohamad was speaking at the Administrative and Coaching Strengthening Programme for the ABJAD Malaysia Zone, Sarawak in Saratok.
He explained that the programme was attended by 50 participants, with 11 selected to become certified coaches representing Sarawak.
He added that shaping the character of the younger generation can be done through skill development programmes, whether life skills or digital skills.
“In addition, culture and martial arts, such as silat, can also play a role.
“These efforts can also be nurtured through sports and recreational programs. Beyond building discipline and teamwork, they also train mental and physical resilience.
“With such planning, the younger generation can build strong character, possess high moral values, and be ready to become responsible leaders in the future.”
Additionally, he noted that all age groups should maintain good relationships to foster a harmonious society.
Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kalaka Branch secretary Gapor Ahmad represented Mohamad in presenting certificates to the participants.
Also present were ABJAD Malaysia president Ustaz Zainodin Othman, and a representative of Gerak Seni Silat ABJAD (Asli) Jabat Kilat Sarawak, Alias Abdul Gani.
Alias expressed his gratitude to Mohamad for his concern and contribution in supporting the success of this inaugural programme held in Saratok.
