SERIAN: An elderly farmer sustained severe injuries in a two-vehicle collision along KM62, Jalan Kuching-Sri Aman yesterday (Dec 28).

Serian police chief DSP Neil Beginda when contacted, said that the accident happened at 1.46 pm and involved a Toyota Vios and a Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle.

“The collision occurred when both vehicles were travelling in the same direction. The motorcycle, ridden by the elderly victim, suddenly switched lanes from left to right, moving into the path of the Vios.

“The Vios driver attempted to brake but was unable to stop in time due to the close distance and wet road conditions, resulting in a collision,” he said.

Neil stated that the 73-year-old rider sustained severe injuries to his right leg and head. He was rushed to Serian Hospital and later referred to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Vios driver, along with his wife and their one-year-old child, escaped unscathed in the accident.
