KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) has extended an invitation to writers nationwide to participate in its creative writing competition, encompassing four categories: poetry collections, short story collections, stage dramas, and novels.

The submission deadline for poetry, short story, and stage drama entries is December 31, while novel entries can be submitted until March 31, 2025, DBP said in a statement.

The competition aims to attract both budding and seasoned writers, with DBP expressing hope that it will inspire the creation of exceptional works that will be cherished for generations.

The government body also noted that it has received an additional allocation of RM50 million under the 2025 Budget initiative.

These funds will be strategically utilised to promote cultural excellence through publishing, arts, and cultural activities.

DBP plans to collaborate with the Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM) and other relevant organisations to ensure the allocation yields maximum cultural and intellectual impact.
