KUCHING: Dec 25 is always the best time of the year for Terisa Jose who was born on Christmas Day 34 years ago.
On this day, besides celebrating Christmas with her close family members, she also gets her birthday cake and eats it.
Yes, last Wednesday was a double celebration for Terisa, a sales and marketing manager of an Australian firm here.
“I’m glad the whole family, including my son-in-law and grandson, are here. Nothing can compare to having my family members around at this time of the year.
“I’m glad I was born on Christmas Day, a special day for Christians all over the world.
“My mother, Mary Mungam was also born on Christmas Day. But she is holidaying in Kuala Lumpur right now.”
Asked what were her wishes for the new year, Terisa, who had been on a Christmas break since Dec 24, said, “I pray my elders as well as my husband will continue to be blessed with good health so that we can celebrate Christmas together for many years to come.”
Terisa added, “ Life has been good to me. I am thankful to God for this. I had been praying for a work-life balance in my life and my wish was fulfilled this year.
“My goal in life is to raise my three younger kids well and live a simple and peaceful life.”
On Christmas eve, the youthful looking lady and her husband, Ah Kiong, held a steamboat and hotpot dinner for their children and close family members at their home.
Terisa received a steam iron for Christmas as well as a scrumptious ice cream cake for her birthday.
“We may not be perfect but we are always united in good and bad times. And Christmas is about the warmth of family gatherings and giving, sharing of love and creating never ending memories,” she said.
After the cutting of the birthday cake, Terisa commented, “I don’t feel like 34. Instead, I feel more like 24. But now, I’m a wife, mother and grandmother.”
