KUCHING: The persistent flash flooding issues plaguing the Kota Sentosa Seven Mile Old Bazaar for over a decade are now a thing of the past following the completion of a RM1.1 million Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) drainage project.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap recently marked the occasion with a visit to the project site, attending a simple ceremony to commemorate the official completion.
“The project, part of the RTP initiative, was designed to alleviate flash flooding that had been a recurring problem for over ten years.
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) officers who diligently supervised and monitored the contractor, Syarikat Rimujaya, ensuring full compliance with the scope and terms of the contract.
“Their efforts played a crucial role in minimising inconveniences to the general public throughout the entire construction period,” he said in a statement today (Dec 24).
Yap encouraged local communities to continue working closely with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) representatives to ensure consistent development and long-term benefits through RTP initiatives.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant against being misled by West Malaysia-based political parties, which could undermine their rights and GPS’s efforts to reclaim Sarawak’s rights enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
