KUCHING: The Sarawak Electronics and Supporting Industries Companies Association (SECA) presented a cheque for Hope Place Kuching to support Hope Place Kuching’s ongoing efforts to provide essential aid and assistance to those in need.

SECA donated RM5,000 to Hope Place as part of their 2024 Christmas Wish List initiative during a visit to Tabuan Tranquility on Dec 20.

The donation from SECA is part of a broader initiative to support charitable organisations and promote social responsibility across the region. They remain committed to giving back and working together to build a stronger, more resilient community in Sarawak.

The delegation was led by chairman of SECA and chief executive officer of X-FAB Sarawak Lee Boon Chun; chairperson of the SECA Human Resource Committee and Human Resource senior director at X-FAB Sarawak, Maureen Labarge; alongside representatives from several SECA member companies, including Lintec Industries, LONGi Kuching, Lotte Kuching, Murata Manufacturing (Sarawak), Sarawak Skills, Taiyo Yuden, Western Digital and X-FAB.

Lee said the contribution was a key part of SECA’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts aiming to give back to the community.

“This donation is a small gesture to support the valuable work that Hope Place Kuching does in assisting those who need help the most.

“It is our privilege to be part of their mission to bring relief and hope to the people in this community.”

However, Labarge shared that the partnership with Hope Place Kuching aligns with SECA’s core values of community engagement, social responsibilities, and fostering a compassionate society.

“As an association, we are committed to supporting causes that promote wellbeing and positively impact individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.”

Yong Tiong Yieng, the operations manager of Hope Place Kuching, briefed valuable insights into the organisation’s history and its support to underprivileged families in Sarawak, especially during challenging times as the Covid-19 pandemic where they have provided food, medical aid, and essential services to those in need.
