SIBU: The Festival Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for Christmas 2024 was launched in Sibu Division today (Dec 23). It will be effective for five days.

The scheme, as announced by from Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) of Sibu branch head Kelyn Bolhassan, covers essential goods including live ‘ayam tua’, chicken wings, bone-in imported mutton, tomatoes, green Bengal peppers, imported round cabbage (excluding Beijing cabbage from Indonesia and China), carrots, imported potatoes from China, red chilies, large imported shallots, big yellow onions, live pigs (farm only), pig stomach and pork (meat and fat).

Kelyn said that strict measures would be taken against traders who flouted the rules under the Price Control and Antiprofiteering Act 2011.

“Traders must comply with the imposed instructions and adopt an ethical business approach while consumers should be aware and exercise their rights. This scheme will be successful if all parties are responsible and play their respective roles,” he added.
