Chief political secretary to the Premier, Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman highlighted the importance of focusing on critical subjects to ensure graduates secure high-paying jobs.

“That is why we emphasise key subjects or specialisations for our children to concentrate on. When they complete Form 5 and continue their studies, they will receive free education funded by the Sarawak government.

“This initiative ensures that education is accessible while equipping graduates with better job opportunities and career prospects.

“This is a role we, as parents and a community, must fulfil,” he said during the Back to School programme organised by Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Tupong Branch held at Mydin Vista Tunku here today (Dec 22).

Earlier, 30 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Matang in Padawan, from low-income families, received schooling aid. The assistance included essential items such as stationery, uniforms, school bags and shoes.

On another note, Fazzrudin addressed rumours and negative narratives accusing Sarawak of being selfish or prioritising its own interests.

He likened managing a state to managing a family, where income is first allocated to necessities, followed by savings and investments.

“Similarly, the RM15.8 billion budget for next year announced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will undoubtedly serve the people of Sarawak.

“This has been proven by the government’s spending on roads and bridges to ensure rural areas also have access. These infrastructure projects require significant investment amounting to billions of ringgit, but they benefit everyone.

“Additionally, various forms of assistance have been introduced, such as the RM1,200 incentive for Sarawakian students,” he said.

He added that the state government is constantly exploring ways to increase Sarawak’s revenue by adhering to federal and state laws, ensuring that the income benefits everyone in Sarawak.

“This includes providing clean water, electricity, telecommunications and education opportunities, which are essential for improving the quality of life for all Sarawakians,” he said.
