KUCHING: Christmas came early for children in the cancer wards and other patients at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) today (Dec 21).
The SABERKAS Batu Lintang branch organised a Christmas gift-giving event, bringing joy and hope to the patients.
Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How, who presented the gifts, said over 400 presents were prepared for them.
“Today is a special day as it coincides with the winter solstice in Chinese tradition, marking the longest night of the year,” See told reporters.
“But no matter how long the night is, the sun will rise the next day. This symbolises that regardless of the challenges patients are facing, as long as they face them with resilience, they can look forward to the dawn of recovery. I am sure the patients will recover very soon.”
See extended heartfelt recovery wishes to the patients, expressing confidence in the care provided by the hospital’s doctors and nurses.
He also highlighted the festive spirit of the occasion, noting Santa’s presence and the anticipation of Christmas among the patients.
“I noticed earlier that quite a number of patients mentioned they plan to be back home for Christmas, which is wonderful news,” he said.
“We must thank our hospital nurses and doctors. They are all very dedicated and doing an excellent job. That is our purpose being here today, to show appreciation and bring hope.”
Also present were SABERKAS Batu Lintang branch chairman Patrick Tan, executive secretary Iszuan Haroni and secretary Wilson Tan.
