SERIAN: A collision involving two vehicles on Jalan Serian-Balai Ringin left two individuals injured while five others escaped unscathed on Friday night.
The accident, which occurred at 7.30 pm, involved a Proton Saga and a Honda HRV, according to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
“All five individuals in the Honda HRV managed to exit the vehicle safely before personnel from the Serian Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene,” Bomba said in a report.
However, two passengers in the Proton Saga – a 35-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman – were trapped inside their vehicle.
“Our rescue team used specialised equipment to extricate the victims, who were then handed over to the ambulance team for further medical attention,” it added.
In a separate incident in Pekan Baki along Jalan Kuching-Serian, an 81-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman sustained injuries in an accident earlier on Saturday.
Bomba confirmed receiving a distress call at 6.21 pm. Rescue personnel employed specialised equipment to extricate the victims, who were then provided with initial treatment before being transported to Serian Hospital.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old woman sustained facial injuries when a fallen tree struck her car in Jalan Bengang Kampung Asam, Betong.
The Betong Fire and Rescue team worked alongside Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel to rescue the victim and remove the tree. The woman was taken to Betong Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Another accident near Perumahan Bomba in Matang involved a van and a Perodua Axia. A 46-year-old van driver escaped uninjured, but the Perodua Axia driver, an Indonesian woman, sustained injuries.
Fire and Rescue teams from Petra Jaya rendered initial aid and transported the injured woman to the hospital for further treatment. The operation, which included clearing an oil spill from the road, concluded at 8.45 pm.
