KUCHING: Every festive season, no one especially the small hawkers and traders is left behind.
That is why Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng applauded the Podium Kuching and the organisers of Kuching Christmas Heartbeat for providing space and venues for the small hawkers and traders to showcase their unique products, and generating their own income all at the same time.
“This is one of the ways for us to support these small hawkers and traders, because they do not have a permanent space to do their business daily.
“Not only that, visitors can come and see it for themselves some of the unique products being sold here,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after conducting a walkabout for the event here on Friday.
On another note, Wee said that such a programme also showcases some of the local talents here.
“And that is why, we also see some of the vendors’ products being put up, not only they sell food. They sell drinks, clothes and cakes and desserts.
“We also seen hawkers from different types of background, whether they are Chinese, Malay, Iban, all are welcomed. It is like a mini Sarawak hawker store here,” he added.
Organised by Woo Woo Whimsy, The Kuching Christmas Heartbeat which began from Dec 18 and will end on Dec 23, opens from 9 am until late.
