-Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears-John Lennon
A new year’s resolution is about so much more than just one goal. Resolutions, no matter how big or small, are all about working towards becoming our best selves little by little. As we near the end of 2024, I’d love to share some wonderful goals that can really boost our quality of life. The new year brings a wonderful chance for a fresh start, along with the possibilities of healing, growth, and transformation. One key aspect of this is WONDER HEALING – a concept that encourages us to embrace positive changes for emotional, physical, and spiritual healing in our lives.
Starting a new hobby, focussing on self-care, or adopting a healthier lifestyle can be such a wonderful journey. I really think that a resolution can be both flexible and meaningful. Check out these unique and totally achievable goals to start the New Year off right!
Stay active
Modern life often involves a lot of sitting: whether it’s at desks, in cars, or during meetings. Let’s make this the year we rise and shine! What really counts is that you find a way to get moving, no matter what it is! Try Different Activities: Mix it up to keep things interesting—yoga, hiking, cycling, swimming, or home workouts. Trying new activities can prevent boredom.
Let’s spin the wheel of hobbies!
Why not choose a fun new hobby to explore each month? How about trying watercolour one month and then diving into origami the next? Sounds like a fun plan! It doesn’t need to be perfect; it’s all about trying things out and enjoying the process of learning new skills.
The little jar of thanks
Each day, jot down something you’re grateful for on a small piece of paper, place it in a jar, and observe the happiness accumulate over the year. By year-end, it will be filled with all the wonderful moments.
Grow your own herbs
It’s not a big garden, just a cosy little pot of herbs by the kitchen window, like basil, mint, or rosemary. You can enjoy fresh flavours in your cooking and feel more connected to nature without having to fully commit to gardening.
Tech-free mornings
Set aside one morning each week to enjoy a no-scroll zone. Just enjoying the simple things in life like teh tarik, catch-up lunch, or a nice stroll around the neighborhood—no phones or internet needed!
Give a daily dose of praise!
Make someone’s day a little brighter with a kind compliment. It’s a simple way to lift someone else’s spirits and it brings a smile to your face as well.
The art of doing nothing
Plan 10 minutes every day to do absolutely nothing. Just sit, relax and let your thought wander without the need to be productive. Taking a moment to do nothing gives us the chance to recharge and refresh ourselves. This can bring back creativity, boost emotional strength, and renew our sense of purpose. It’s not about being lazy; it’s about making room for fresh thoughts, ideas, and energy to come forth.
Discover your special recipe
Master one dish so perfectly that it becomes your signature, your reliable choice that wows everyone at dinner. Such a fun and achievable cooking goal without diving into a whole recipe book!
Learn the art of saying no
Try to set some gentle boundaries by saying no to something that feels draining each month. It might be a habit, activity, or obligation that no longer brings you joy or benefit.
Slow-travel local
Why not choose a nearby area to explore more thoroughly instead of venturing far away? Explore a new café, take a walk to farmers’ markets, and discover what makes it special! Explore the hidden gems of historical sites, embrace local traditions, and discover the indigenous practices that enrich your area’s heritage.
These goals are all about incorporating small, enjoyable practices into daily life and emphasising fun, manageable changes. Cheers to a New Year that’s fresh, exciting, and full of delightful surprises! Welcome to the exciting year of 2025!
