KUCHING: The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has a timely reminder for everyone —
stay safe and keep an eye out for crocodiles as the rainy season brings rising water levels.
With continuous heavy rain causing water to overflow in some areas, crocodiles have been spotted venturing closer to human habitats.
“These sneaky reptiles tend to follow the rising waters, and you might just catch one chilling by a drain or riverbank,” SFC quipped in a Facebook statement.
SFC advised the public to avoid large drains and riverbanks during heavy rain or floods to prevent any unexpected encounters with crocodiles.
Staying updated on crocodile sightings and other safety alerts is also important to stay informed.
Pet owners are reminded to keep their furry friends indoors or in secure areas to avoid any unwanted encounters.
It’s also a good idea to save emergency contact numbers on your phone for quick access if anything happens.
“Take care of yourselves, your health, and your safety during this rainy season,” SFC added.
With these simple precautions, residents can all stay safe while respecting the wildlife that shares our environment.
