MUKAH: A total of 33 athletes from the Motion Athletics Club (MAC) were celebrated during a certificate presentation ceremony for the Sibu Open Athletics Championship 2024 at the Stadium here yesterday.
The certificates were presented by Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine, who is also the club patron.
According to MAC chairman Mohd Termizi Jamain, the club has participated in many championships since its establishment in September 2023.
“Among them are the Sibu Open Athletics Championship 2023, Sarawak Junior Athletics Championship 2023, Sarawak Open Athletics Championship 2024, Sarawak Junior Athletics Championship 2024, and Sibu Open Athletics Championship 2024.
“In addition, MAC athletes like Irsyad Irzalhaziq Matali and Aimy Zenia Arissa have achieved outstanding accomplishments.
“Irsyad represented Malaysia at the ASEAN School Games (international level) in the shot put event.
“Moreover, he also represented Sarawak at the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) Athletics Championship 2023 in Negeri Sembilan and brought home a silver medal in the shot put event (national level),” he said.
Meanwhile, Aimy represented Sarawak at the MSSM Athletics Championship 2023 in Negeri Sembilan (national level).
Termizi elaborated that Aimy also represented Mukah at the Sarawak Schools Sports Council (MSSS) Athletics Championship 2024 in Sri Aman, winning three gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m events, as well as a silver medal in the 4x400m event (state level).
“Aimy also won two gold medals in the 100m and 200m events and one silver in the 4x100m event during the Sibu Open Athletics Championship 2024.
“In the Sarawak Junior Athletics Championship 2024, she secured two silvers in the 100m and 4x100m events and one bronze in the 200m event,” he explained.
Also present were MAC vice president Mohd Firdaus Mokhtar and Long-Distance coach Tompell Sutu.
