KUCHING: The Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department is offering a 50 per cent discount on traffic summonses from tomorrow (Dec 18) until Friday (Dec 20).
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata said that payment counters will be open at the Hall of Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) in conjunction with the Road Safety Advocacy Campaign for Christmas and Customer Meet Day.
“The counters for summons review and payment are aimed at helping the community resolve outstanding police summonses with a 50 per cent discount,” he said.
The Road Transport Department (RTD) will also set up a mobile counter service at the same location to offer services such as driver’s license renewal (CDL/PDL), road tax renewal, PG10 inspections for motorcycles with expired road tax for more than three years, blacklist or summons checks and RTD summons payments
The five-day Road Safety Advocacy Campaign for Christmas (Dec 23-27) will also be held at the same venue and will include safety talks, distribution of road safety pamphlets and demonstrations of safe driving practices.
“Police officers will be assigned to accident-prone locations to ensure smooth and controlled traffic flow,” he added.
A total of 700 police personnel will be on standby throughout the campaign period to raise public awareness of road safety and compliance with traffic laws.
