MIRI: Police have detained a 31-year-old man in connection with an alleged armed robbery at a premises in Simpang Ngu, Batu Niah, along the Jalan Miri-Bintulu road.
The incident, which occurred last Dec 8, involved the use of a machete with the suspect reportedly making off with RM1,000 in cash.
Miri District police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the arrest, which took place last Friday in Betong.
Authorities have opened an investigation under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which deals with robbery offences.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days to assist with further inquiries.
