KUCHING: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus has marked a milestone during its lively Good Design Week (GDW) 2024 with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the event’s official launch.
The MoA, signed between Swinburne Sarawak and Goethe-Institut Malaysia, symbolises a significant step in fostering creative excellence and cross-cultural collaboration.
Goethe-Institut Malaysia, represented by its Director Anna Viegel, committed a research grant of RM60,000 spread over three years to support Swinburne Sarawak’s initiatives in animation, interactive stories, digital comics, and illustrated books.
The agreement ensures eligible students access to micro-grants for their projects, which will be showcased on national and international platforms through exhibitions and publications.
Simultaneously, the MoU with the Sarawak Influencers Council (SIC), signed by its President Jeremy Yaw and Swinburne Sarawak’s Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Ir Professor Sim Kwan Yong, aims to revolutionise digital marketing education and industry engagement.
This partnership introduces integrated internship pathways, joint industry-linked projects, and collaborative course development, empowering students with mentorship opportunities and entrepreneurial skills.
The final day of the event featured academic paper presentations and eye-opening keynote sessions delivered by experts of design and architecture from Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.
The official launching of GDW 2024 on 11 December 2024 was officiated by the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
