SARATOK: Youth must be ready to embrace the technological revolution that’s reshaping the job market, said Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri.
“Jobs that existed 20 years ago may have vanished, while new roles we couldn’t imagine are now essential.
“We need to adapt to change with an open and future-oriented mindset,” he said during the Saratok District Career and Education Day 2024 at SJKC Min Syn today.
He praised the event for exposing students to emerging fields like AI, data analytics, green energy and digital entrepreneurship.
“Many students lack understanding of their post-school options,” he said.
“This event offers guidance and exposes them to various paths, including skills and technical training.”
He highlighted the Sarawak Foundation’s assistance for further education and encouraged students to explore technical fields.
“Dream big, but remember, success requires continuous effort,” he added.
The event drew 260 participants, mainly from local secondary schools and Form Six colleges.
Participating institutions and agencies included the Sarawak Foundation, Swinburne University, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), Laila Taib College, Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) Betong, Sarawak Skills Sri Aman, Politeknik METrO Betong Sarawak, Betong Community College, Kota Samarahan Industrial Training Institute (ILPKS), SMK Kalaka’s Vocational Class, Agrobank Saratok, MARA Betong District Office, the Saratok District Health Office and Bank Rakyat Sarikei.
