MELAKA: The cleanliness of food premises in the state is among  the important factors in Melaka’s  effort to empower the tourism sector in line with Visit Melaka  Year (TMM) 2019, said State Health and Anti-Drugs  Committee chairman Low Chee Leong.

He said therefore the state government hoped food traders in Melaka would give emphasis on cleanliness when preparing food and drinks at all time to prevent incidents of food poisoning which could affect the image of the state.

He said the state government was also stepping up its Food Cleanliness Campaign in line  with state government’s slogan of “Melaka  Excellent, Smart, Green and Clean to focus on  cleanliness education as well as to raise the level of cleanliness at food premises.

“As a tourism state which targets  20 million domestic and foreign tourists in TMM 2019, we really need to stress  on cleanliness,” he told Bernama.  -Bernama
