KUCHING: Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is dedicated to uplifting Sarawak’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in digital marketing and global branding through its signature Mid-tier Companies (MTCs) Benchmarking Programme held yesterday.
Under the theme “Digital Marketing for Global Reach”, the event aimed to equip Sarawak’s MSMEs with strategies to enhance their global competitiveness.
Mansor Shah Wahid, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE, emphasised MATRADE’s commitment to export excellence by fostering a dynamic export ecosystem through comprehensive and inclusive approaches, particularly in the development agenda for exporters.
He stated, “our strategic collaboration with our MTCDP Alumni demonstrates our unwavering dedication to supporting Malaysian exporters in global competitiveness.
This benchmarking programme facilitates knowledge exchange and acts as a catalyst for establishing strategic partnerships between established exporters and local MSMEs, enhancing their global presence, especially in digital marketing and international branding.”
“Malaysian exporters must implement targeted strategies to expand their global reach and optimise their export outcomes. Tailored market approaches will strengthen their competitive position, enhance brand recognition, and drive sustained growth in international markets,” he added.
He further highlighted that a robust combination of effective digital marketing and sustainable global branding will yield successful results for all exporters, including MSMEs in Sarawak.
In partnership with Deloitte Consulting, the programme enabled knowledge sharing and networking among industry leaders, featuring two prominent MTCs — Pansar Berhad’s COO, Danny Tai, and Gading Kencana Sdn Bhd’s Director, Datin Hasnah Awang.
Their insights during the fireside chat on branding and digital marketing strategies emphasised sustainable approaches to scaling businesses internationally.
Initiated in 2014, MATRADE’s Mid-Tier Companies Development Programme (MTCDP) has benefitted 348 MTCs, aiding them in becoming global leaders. The initiative supports Malaysia’s MADANI Economy and New Industrial Master Plan 2030, fostering economic revitalisation and inclusivity.
Participants engaged in panel discussions and workshops that delved into emerging trends and challenges in digital marketing. MATRADE and Deloitte offered actionable strategies to navigate the complexities of international branding, emphasising the crucial role of innovation in export growth.
The MTCDP targets export-oriented MTCs with annual revenues ranging from RM50 million to RM500 million for manufacturing companies and RM20 million to RM500 million for service providers.
