LUBOK ANTU: A joint army patrol successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle goods across the Malaysia-Indonesia border, seizing beers and gas cylinders worth RM10,080.

The First Infantry Division said the incident happened at an illegal route about 100 metres from the border around Ensawang oil palm plantation area in the Tebedu GABMA Post sector.

“At around 3.30 pm last Monday, a team of Malaysian and Indonesian soldiers spotted a group of individuals acting suspiciously, believed to be guarding the goods along the illegal route.

“Upon realising the soldiers’ presence, the group quickly fled the scene and abandoned the goods.

“Further inspection revealed 118 cartons of Camel beer and 20 gas cylinders, with an estimated value of RM10,080. No prohibited or dangerous items were found in the vicinity,” the division said.
