KUCHING: Charity Without Borders (CWB) No. 11, organised by Hope Place in a joint effort with Kelab Cabaran Pacuan 4 Roda Bintulu and various 4×4 clubs in East Malaysia, returns this year to Long Silat for a charity expedition.
According to a statement, the flag-off ceremony will be held on Dec 12 in Miri, but the convoy will depart the next day and visit three longhouses in Ulu Baram, covering 130km.
“Earlier this week, a registration opening ceremony officiated by Kelvin Wan, the founder of Hope Place; Tie Sing Ung, president of Kelab Cabaran Pacuan 4 Roda Bintulu; Liu Tek Chai; Lau Sie King, the person in charge of Miri Oil Town Hash Harriers; and Ngu Meng Ho, also from Miri, was held in Miri.
“The registration fee of RM350 for 4×4 vehicles who wish to participate starts this week and will close on Nov 15; however, there will be a limitation to 130 vehicles registration,” the statement said.
Drivers of 4×4 vehicles in Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu, and Bintulu interested in joining this cause can contact Liu at 014-890 6770 or Teng King Chion at 012-679 3963, while those in Miri, Brunei, and Sabah can reach out to Lau at 019-844 8582.
Launched in 2013, CWB offers healthcare assistance and one-time food aid, and ensures the safety of electrical systems in longhouses.
“Hope Place is seeking donations and sponsorships for this year’s expedition, particularly for food aid, fire extinguishers, and school supplies.
“Additionally, the NGO aims to acquire 60 life jackets for children who travel to boarding school by boat each week,” the statement added.
