KUALA LUMPUR: Bernama TV was recognised as the Media of the Year (Broadcast Media) at the Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards 2024 here tonight for its coverage of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
The award was presented by the Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad to the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, who was accompanied by Bernama TV head Nor Hamzeela Md Hambali.
Nur-ul Afida said Bernama will continue to strive to improve the quality of their coverage of CSR activities.
Congratulating the Bernama TV team, she said the recognition was based on the support of Bernama TV and Bernama in general to CSR programmes.
“Bernama also carries out various programmes, especially during the month of Ramadan that focuses on those in need such as orphans and single mothers,” she told reporters after the award presentation ceremony at a hotel here, last night.
Also present were Bernama editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj and TV and Radio Broadcasting head Shukri Ishak.
Nur-ul Afida said Bernama TV also provided coverage for external parties conducting CSR activities to help the communities.
“I believe our selection as the winner is based on our contributions, reporting, and coverage of such activities,” she said.
Meanwhile, in her opening speech, Noraini said the awards not only recognise the achievements of companies in implementing CSR initiatives but also spark a paradigm shift in the overall approach of CSR activities, hoping that the recognition could demonstrate that social responsibility is not just an addition to business operations but an essential component that should be part of a company’s core strategy. – BERNAMA
