The missing man, identified as Ong Kim Huat, 65, left his house around 2.30 pm on Friday (July 12) to fish near a river at Kampung Demak Baru, Phase 1, Jalan Bako.

According to Ong’s children, they received his last known location via WhatsApp at 5.02 pm on the same day, indicating he was at Muara Sebuyau.

Until the report was lodged, Ong has yet to be found.

Upon arrival, the team initiated a search and rescue (SAR) operation and established a SAR control post at the Muara Sebuyau jetty.

The search effort also includes personnel from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
At the time of writing, the operation is still ongoing.
