KUCHING: The new access road project linking the Stapok Utama traffic lights near SJK(C) Chung Hua Primary School No. 6 to the Ensing Timur area is scheduled to be completed by Sept 15.

The project, which is approximately 285 metres long and costs RM2,023,919, has reached 65.74 per cent completion.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian in a statement said he has been actively planning and securing funding for this development project to ease growing traffic flow.

“This project is critical for both main roads and the dispersed routes around residential areas. It aims to ensure smooth transitions from residential areas to the main roads,” he said.

He also emphasised the importance of contractors adhering to the schedule to benefit the public as soon as possible.

Dr Sim reminded the federal government of its responsibility and obligation to provide a better and more comprehensive transportation system for Sarawak, given the road tax contributions from Sarawakians.
