KUCHING: Collaboration between the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and Centre of Technical Excellence (Centexs) Commercial is expected to promote local products from Sarawak.

“MyCEB sees the potential and expertise of Centexs Commercial in producing traditional products that should be widely promoted,” said MyCEB chief executive officer Azman Tambi Chik.

He said this following the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the two parties at Juma’ani Pavilion on Tuesday (June 11).

Centexs Commercial general manager Shahren Yusri said MyCEB, as a large federal organisation, can help market Sarawak’s products internationally.

“In an effort to market Sarawak products, Centexs will start operations at the Kuching, KLIA, KLIA2, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and Penang airports,” he said.

Shahren explained that Centex Commercial will open a cafe at Kuching International Airport named ‘Kuih Kita’.

“Through this approach, products like Mie Kolo, Laksa Sarawak, and local kuih (cakes) can be directly promoted to visitors,” he added.

Azman expressed confidence that with this collaboration, product prices can be reduced and greater profits can be obtained by local entrepreneurs.

Additionally, he announced that MyCEB will organise the National Business Events Week (NBEW) in August at KLCC.
