GEDONG: The Sarawak Department of Agriculture has been instructed to collect comprehensive E-Tani data to ensure that the goals for the development of the state’s agricultural industry can be achieved by 2030.
Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, said the collected information would facilitate targeted assistance to farmers and agricultural areas.
He explained that everyone needs to act more swiftly in carrying out their duties and responsibilities as time is running out.
“So we can’t wait any longer, it is already 2024, leaving only five or six more years until 2030 to achieve all the set targets.
“Therefore, I am directing the agriculture department to collect the most complete information possible for e-tani so that we can provide assistance or targeted support,” he said.
He stated this while speaking at the closing ceremony of Agrofest Gedong 2024 at Dewan Datuk Patinggi Ali Gedong today.
He added that the reports obtained later would ensure that the assistance given to farmers reaches those who really need it, thus preventing wastage.
Furthermore, this effort is to ensure food supply security and the strengthening of the agricultural industry towards the year 2030.
