LIMBANG: The Bisaya community here  will be celebrating the Babulang Festival from June 7 to 9.

The festival falls on the same week as the Gawai Dayak celebration in Sarawak.

Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the festival was truly significant because it showcased the identity of Sarawak which consisted of multiple cultures and races and was rich in diversity.

“The Babulang and Lumba Kerbau Festival 2024 is also one of the platforms for the younger generation to appreciate and preserve their traditions.

“This festival has been  listed in the Sarawak tourism calendar and is one of the most important events in efforts to enliven  tourism activities in the state,” he said in a recent statement.

Similarly, Batu Danau assemblyman Datuk Paulus Gumbang said the celebration provided an opportunity for the younger generation to understand and inherit the cultural values and traditions that had become part of the Bisaya community in Limbang.
