Premier to pay last respects to late Mutang

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will be in Miri on Sunday to pay his final respects to the late Senate President Datuk Mutang Tagal.

The Office of the President of the Senate in a statement said that the late Senator’s remains will be flown to Miri on Sunday and expected to arrive at 10 am.

Today, the last respect ceremony will be held at Nirvana Centre Kuala Lumpur from 10 am to 2pm.

Meanwhile, the last respect ceremony for Mutang will also be held at the BEM Airport Road Church in Miri upon arrival there.

He will then be laid to rest at the SIB Cemetery, Lambir, Miri after the tribute service at the BEM Canada Hill Church on Monday.

Mutang, 70, breathed his last at the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur at 11.46 am on Friday (May 10).

He had been undergoing treatment at the heart institute after falling ill during a working trip to Azerbaijan on May 6.
