KUCHING: The Sarawak Patriots Association (SPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the restoration of all rights and privileges taken from Sarawak.

At its Annual General Meeting on May 5 the association commended the Sarawak government for its efforts in reclaiming lost rights, particularly in education, healthcare, language recognition, and resource management.

“SPA reiterated its call to the federal government to restore rights and privileges, including those affected by the Sea Territory Act 2012,” said its chairman, Datuk Dr Lau Pang Heng, in a statement Wednesday (May 8).

“Members raised questions regarding the ratification of the said Act by the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, seeking clarity on its legal status,” he said.

SPA highlighted its commitment to organising talks and seminars to educate Sarawakians about their rights and privileges under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

It also advocated for equitable resource allocation among Malaysia’s partners, emphasising the one-third formula to reflect the partnership among Sarawak, Sabah, and Malaya.
