KUCHING: An operation by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA) saw the issuance of 192 non-compliance notices and the confiscation of two motorcycles last night (Apr 20).
The joint operation, involving 62 personnel, was conducted along Mile 15, Jalan Kuching-Serian.
Throughout the operation, the JPJ team inspected 1,372 vehicles and issued 192 non-compliance notices against motorists for various offenses.
Among them include driving without a license, possessing expired licenses and road tax, lacking insurance coverage, failing to display license plates as per specifications, and other technical offenses such as installing accessories that pose a safety risk.
In addition, they also seized two motorcycles under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 due to road tax expiration exceeding a year.
Meanwhile, the NADA team conducted 20 urine screenings in the operation. Of the figure, three were arrested after testing positive for methamphetamine.
JPJ stressed that such operation aims to detect various offenses committed by road users while, promoting compliance with traffic regulations.
