KUCHING: The new Koperkasa Cooperative Sarawak Berhad building in Satok is set to be officially inaugurated during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
The building, comprising four unit shophouses purchased for RM6.7 million, was approved by the Cooperative Commission of Malaysia (SKM).
Koperkasa Cooperative Sarawak Berhad chairman Fathi Hambali expressed confidence that the new building would significantly enhance the cooperative’s revenue and overall operations.
“The choice of Jalan Kulas for our new building couldn’t be more strategic.
“It is poised to become a hub for our cooperative, not just in terms of location but also as a revenue-generating asset for our future endeavours,” he said during a press conference here last night (Apr 5).
Fathi also mentioned that a Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri programme would coincide with the inauguration of the new building, with Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki expected to officiate at the event.
Additionally, he revealed that Koperkasa now boasts a membership of 25,032 as of last month.
“What is even more exciting is that we welcomed 175 new members into our cooperative just on March 26,” he added.
He also reiterated Koperkasa’s commitment to raising awareness about the numerous benefits of cooperatives through proactive promotion.
“Leveraging the friendly approach of our members and bolstered by support from governmental agencies and allied stakeholders, we pledge to redouble our efforts in championing the cooperative cause,” he said.
