Depression leads man to hang himself

KUCHING: A 34-year-old man from Kampung Batu Kitang has committed suicide in his home on Thursday night.

According to Padawan district police acting chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong, the incident was reported by a police officer from the Batu Kawa Police Station following a call from Gerakan Padawan.

“The deceased was found hanging in a room at his residence. The police received the call at approximately 8:45 pm.

“Sources indicate that the deceased had been battling depression and had been advised by medical professionals to undergo treatment,” Lim said.

The deceased leaves behind two young children, aged 4 and 3.

Medical personnel from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) examined the scene and confirmed the death of the deceased at 9:32 pm.

Investigations have ruled out any indication of foul play, with no evidence of external interference discovered at the scene.
