KUCHING: An unemployed man was fined RM1,200 in default three months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today (Apr 5) for going on a rampage and breaking window panes and pulling out the metal grilles at his mother’s house.

Farhan, 34, pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 427 of the Penal Code which was read before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.

According to the charge, he deliberately damaged the properties belonging to his 61-year-old mother at their residence in Taman Allamanda, Matang, at around 7 pm on February 24.

According to the facts of the case, a police report was made by Farhan’s mother about her son’s rampage and actions.

During the incident, fearful of their safety, Farhan’s mother and her husband left the house and spent the night at her sister’s house.

The police successfully arrested Farhan at his mother’s house around 10 pm on March 1.

The results of the investigation revealed that Farhan had broken the window panes with the intention of selling the iron window grilles.

In addition, it was learnt that he often sold valuable household appliances in his mother’s house to buy prohibited items.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted the case while the accused was not represented by a legal counsel.
