KUCHING: Assistance from the National Registration Department (NRD) will be sought to update the residential addresses of people who have moved to the Darul Hana resettlement area here.
In stating this Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunications, Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, said the residents’ identity cards need to be updated as the Darul Hana resettlement will now have new lane names.
“We will liaise with the NRD to organise a programme here to register the residents who have moved here.
“Most of them are still using their old village address, and some of them are using temporary addresses. So with these signposts, they can use the official address, and we will implement the change of address soon,” he said.
He said this to reporters after the symbolic installation of road signs and lanes at the Darul Hana resettlement here today.
Abdul Rahman said the installation of lane signposts is underway with the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) expecting more than 47 signposts expected to be completed before Hari Raya.
Additionally, he said extra efforts have been made to include this new location in navigation applications such as Google Maps and Waze to facilitate external users in finding the location.
He hoped this effort will improve accessibility for residents and facilitate connections with other communities.
