BETONG: The Community Development Department (KEMAS) commended the high spirit of camaraderie among the residents in preparing and distributing the spicy porridge (bubur pedas).
KEMAS officer for the Betong division, Jefry Lana, said that the fasting period did not hinder the success of programme, which was managed by the Betong Community Recreation Club and Membara Squad (KRDSM) KEMAS.
“I am very satisfied with the spirit of cooperation shown by all the staffs involved in this event starting from the preparation of ingredients, to cooking the spicy porridge and facilitating the distribution process, everything went smoothly,” he said.
He added that the spicy porridge was distributed to about 100 staffs at the Betong federal complex.
“This programme is the second initiated by KEMAS, which has been implemented since 2022. However, back then, it relied on donations collected among KEMAS Betong staffs.
“Alhamdulillah, this year it was fully sponsored by KRDSM and we have successfully achievde the programme’s objectives,” he said.
