SHAH ALAM: The OBYU Foundation recently present its contribution of RM1,600,928 million to Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor for the development of a new mosque at Eco Ardence, Setia Alam, Selangor.
The foundation’s contribution was presented by its Board of Trustees member Datuk Ahmadi Yusoff and Mohamad Nadziff Bustar, as stated in its press release.
“Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor is managing the collection of funds for the development of the new mosque which is anticipated to be accorded Royal-mosque status by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.”
“Planned on a 3-acre site, the mosque at Eco Ardence will accommodate some 3,600 congregation. The construction is set to begin mid-2024 and is expected for completion by mid-2026,” according to the statement.
For the record, OBYU Foundation is the philanthropic vehicle of Sarawak home-grown OBYU group of companies. Its focus is to support education, religious activities and assist the under privileged communities.
Apart from the new mosque at Eco Ardence, its other major projects include development of UNIMAS examination hall and scholarships for asnaf students to pursue tertiary education.
Since 2019, OBYU Foundation has donated some RM10 million to various charitable causes and programmes.
