Uggah, Sng meet to discuss pepper prices

KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah and Malaysia Pepper Board Chairman Larry Sng Wei Shien yesterday met to discuss the current low pepper prices. 

Both agreed the situation was badly affecting smallholders.

Betong and Julau (including Pakan) are among the  main producers of pepper in Sarawak.

Uggah, who is the Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Minister, is Bukit Saban assemblyman  while Larry is Julau MP.

Permanent secretary to the Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development Ministry Datuk Ik Pahon was present at the meeting.
