KUCHING: The nation mourns the passing of former Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, whose profound influence and contributions continue to inspire leaders at all levels.

Federal Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek expressed heartfelt condolences, acknowledging Taib’s significant service not only to Sarawak but also to the nation.

“Today, we join the entire nation in mourning the loss of a figure who dedicated himself to the service of Sarawak and the nation.

“His legacy of selfless dedication resonates deeply with the people, as evident from the outpouring of appreciation we’ve witnessed since yesterday,” she said when met by the media after she paid her last respects to Taib at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex here today.

Fadhlina said Taib’s leadership exemplified commitment, vision, and a tireless dedication to progress, adding that the late former Head of State’s contributions to Sarawak’s development and the welfare of its people remain indelible.

She extended condolences to Taib’s family and the people of Sarawak, describing the profound loss felt by the whole nation.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to Tun Taib’s family and the people of Sarawak, who have lost a great leader.

“His legacy of leadership and service will continue to inspire leaders across the nation to strive for the betterment of our country and state.”
