KUCHING: The nation is deeply saddened by the passing of former Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who passed on early this morning in Kuala Lumpur.

Expressing his condolences, federal Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi extended his heartfelt sympathies to the family of Taib, praying for strength for the family during this trying time.

He said the country, and Sarawak in particular, has lost a revered and respected figure who contributed significantly to the development of both the nation and the Land of the Hornbill.

“May the family of the late Tun Pehin Sri find the strength to cope with this loss,” he said in a Facebook post.

Taib served as the Governor of Sarawak from 2014 until early this year, leaving a legacy of dedication and service to the people.

Nanta expresses condolences to the late Taib Mahmud.
