A big loss to state and nation, says Fadillah

KUCHING: The passing of Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is a significant loss not only for Sarawak but also for the nation, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Fadillah, who is the Petra Jaya MP, expressed his sadness and condolences following the the death of the former Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak early this morning at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

He noted that Taib’s contributions extended beyond the state, as he served as a minister at the federal level before returning to Sarawak.

“May Allah forgive him, shower His mercy upon him, pardon him, dignify his death, widen his grave, make Paradise his final abode, and grant patience to his family members.

“May his soul be blessed and placed among the believers and the righteous. Ameen.

“I extend condolences to the entire family of the deceased,” said Fadillah in a Facebook post.

The late Taib was widely respected for his contributions to Sarawak’s development and his service to the nation.
