Two large road projects a catalyst for rural growth

BETONG: The construction of a new road from Maja to Penurin and an access road from Jambu Krampak to Rantau Layang is described as a major project that will catalyse rural growth and improve the socioeconomics of the people.

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu expressed hope that the construction of the two road projects could be speed up.

“The two large road projects can provide faster and more comfortable travel routes.

“It will be a catalyst for rural growth and the socioeconomic improvement of the community,” he said.

Rentap, who is also Layar assemblyman said this at the Land Compensation Check Handover Ceremony at Dewan Layar, Betong District Office, yesterday.

He also expressed desire to see agriculture activities expanded, allowing for easy transportation of the harvested crops by the residents.

“Therefore, we hope for the expedited implementation of both roads because we want to witness the socio-economic improvement stemming from farming activities, benefitting the people.

“I am confident that with the completion of the roads and the opening of land on a lrager scale will have a significant impact on the rural population,” he added.

Touching on the compensation, Rentap reminded the recipients to use it to support their children’s education.

The ceremony was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and a total of RM3.17 million in compensation was paid to 59 landowners.
