Move to expose entrepreneurs to digitalisation

KUCHING: The upcoming Mini Entrepreneurs Development Programme (Mini KUD) @ Kota Samarahan aims to expose entrepreneurs to digitalisation in business.

Organised by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development it is to help them progress further.

Deputy Minister, Datuk Rubiah Wang said entrepreneurs need such knowledge to expand their business and increase their sales revenue.

“We have 67,000 entrepreneurs in Malaysia, but 80 per cent of them are under the category which generates revenue below RM60,000 per year.

“Therefore, the Ministry has a lot of programmes to enhance our entrepreneurs’ performance as well as their economic status. And KUD is one of our strategies,” she said after attending the Santai Media programme at Cafe Cafe @ The Original Car Wash here on Sunday.

Rubiah said the programme from Febr 1-4 is expected to draw about 100 entrepreneurs with sales transactions of RM300,000.

“The event will be launched by our Minister who is also Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and there will be lots of interesting programmes.

“One of it will be the Poco-Poco Marathon which is expecting about 3,000 entries as we want to create new record for our Malaysian Book of Records,” she said.

Hosted at Samarahan Square, this event will feature collaboration among five agencies – Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Sarawak Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (RISDA), Community Development Department (KEMAS), Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) Berhad, and Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA).

More than 100 rural entrepreneurs, encompassing food vendors, small-scale traders, and local artisans, will be showcasing a diverse range of products and services.

Zahid Hamidi, is scheduled to officiate at the event on Feb 2 accompanied by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Rubiah.
