KAPIT: Continuous rainfall triggered a 50-metre long landslide at the open space in front of an 18-door Rh Rambor, Nanga Melipis today (Jan 28).

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firemen from Kapit station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at around 10.30 am

The team faced a 32km journey by road from the station to Nanga Sebatu, followed by a 2km riverine route from Nanga Sebatu to Rh Rambor.

Upon arrival, the team confirmed that a landslide stretching 50 metres took place about seven metres from the longhouse.

It was reported that the landslide was attributed to rainwater infiltrating old cracks in the open area.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The team installed hazard warning tapes and advised a total of 200 longhouse residents to avoid the collapsed area.

Residents were also instructed to take precautionary measures and report promptly if there are signs of another potential landslide.
