KUCHING: The Civil Defence Force (APM) successfully delivered 434 food packages to residents affected by floods in Mukah and Selangau on Wednesday.

In Mukah, 19 longhouses namely Rh Langan, Rh Rabai, Rh Seman, Rh Anderson Kalong, Rh George, Rh Membuas, Rh Mauh, Rh Ampi, Rh Manggong, Rh Ming, Rh Francis Ngang, Rh Blansai, Rh Gerunsin, Rh Tandang, Rh Sumut, Rh Badi, Rh Adih, Rh Jani, Rh Nicholas Layang, along with two primary schools – SK Bukit Inkerbai and SK Lubok Bemban, received the much-needed food packages.

The initiative was prompted by rising water levels at the Nanga Tajam Road, which resulted in the isolation of these communities and school staff.

In Selangau, a similar situation occurred due to flooding in Tanjung Taroh and it prompted the food aid delivery to four longhouses namely Rh Kembang, Rh Enjup, Rh Langut, and Rh Joannes Boie.

A total of 379 food packages were delivered in Mukah and 85 food packages delivered in Selangau.

Utilising a five-tonne APM lorry, a three-tonne APM lorry, five pick-up trucks, two APM boats, and a car, the deliveries commenced at 8.30 am and concluded at 3.30 pm.
