MUKAH: The common antics of crying and “tugs of war” betweenmothers or fathersand their children were no longer seen on the first day of schooling in most primary schools here.
This is because most of the children have been exposed to early child learning in nurseries or kindergartens.
A visit to several schools yesterday morning found primary one pupils behaving well.
For example at SK Mukah, scenes of primary one pupils crying or refusing to enter the class on the first dayare now things of the past.
“For us this morning, everything is proceeding smoothly and in an orderly manner, as expected,” said its headmaster Burhanuddin Kaderi.
“As of this morning, we have a total of 42 primary one to be placed in two classes. And just for the record, for now we have a total of 357 pupils. The number is expected to increase as some may be transferred from other schools,” he said.
On the school’s performance in the just concluded UPRS, he said it had improved.
“We have better school average grade,” he said, adding that the school adopted a dual language programme that emphasised Mathematics, Science and English.
The primary school also has seven special education classes for a total of 42 special pupils from the area.
SK Mukah,locatednext to SMK Mukah, has 42 teachers and 11 non-teaching staff.
