KUCHING: Smiles of joy are seen on the faces of the patients here as they receive 200 hampers of food in conjunction with the Uplifting Lives Festive (ULF) 2023 programme.

The programme, which was organised by Yayasan Petronas, was aimed to bring cheers and joy to those in need in conjunction with Christmas celebration.

According to Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, this significant programme is done through Petronas’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in collaboration with her ministry and the State Social Welfare Department, Sarawak Health Department, along with the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) to donate to cancer patients at SGH.

“Alhamdulillah, 200 hampers of food containing basic food packets, fast food and celebration biscuits are distributed today.

“Of the total, 130 hampers of food baskets will be distributed to patients at the SGH, especially cancer patients, and 70 food baskets will be given to aid recipients of the State Social Welfare Department,” she said during the officiating ceremony of the programme at SGH here today.

“Our ministry welcomes the good efforts of government-linked companies (GLCs) and other corporate sectors operating in Sarawak to emulate the initiatives carried out by Petronas.

“I believe that assistance in improving the well-being of the target group, especially in terms of finances and other assistance, is a noble practice. This donation means a lot to those in need.

“Through programmes like this, the Yayasan Petronas proves its commitment to be with the government in carrying out CSR, helping all levels of society, especially the needy,” she said.

For the record, the donation here is part of the 2,350 donations given to the needy throughout the nation by Yayasan Petronas in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department.
